Posted this more in detail on the roid thread. BJ Penn cannot win this fight if it goes past three rounds. He will be so gassed that even the “Roid Blanket” will be able to finish it. So if Sherk can weather the 8 minutes of brilliance, followed by 4 minutes of lazy takedowns and big overhand rights, I think he will win by “gas tank”. Hoping for the former, betting on the latter. |

BJ rather soundly. he’s better in every aspect of mma “When the opponent expands, l contract. When he contracts, l expand. And when there is an opportunity..l do not hit..it hits all by itself.” -Bruce Lee |

The Prodigy, Sherk only has cardio over him |

Same here. Penn all the way. Better striker, better submission skills, incredibly flexible, better at passing guard and what not. Sherk only has cardio and steroids over Penn. Penn wins in the late first or early second round by submission. “To be the best, you’ve got to be one crazy son of a bitch.” |

@UFC Fanatic: I’m with you there, early second round submission by Penn. |

Sherk easy, and who knows sherk might have the better ground game. Just kidding. Sherk by decision or Penn by RNC in round 2. |

EVERY FIGHT ON THIS CARD BESIDES THE MAIN EVENT, I CAN ROOT FOR SOMEONE. THIS WILL BE JUST A GOOD FIGHT TO WATCH & SEE WHAT HAPPENS. DOES ANYONE ELSE FEEL THIS WAY? |

interesting. bj has worked a lot on conditioning and cardio lately but, the reality is, sherks conditioning will still be way higher. i think you’re right, but only if sherk really pushes the pace, and he will lol. |

I think the pressure to perform is more on BJ just due to his style. Sherk just has to survive with strong wrestling and an iron chin (he has both in spades). BJ can pull it off (hell I will actually be rooting for him!) I just think it is more likely that Sherk will stall and take the fight into the later rounds. BJ has never had 5 round cardio, even at his best. Sherk can win with a more conservative gameplan, and that usually plays into a fighter’s favor. It is definately a tough call. |
