I think he is good for the sport in some ways for sure. But a big part of his impact is yet to be known. We won’t know for sure until CBS EliteXC Saturday Night Fights airs… MMAPredictions.com: Watermelon-powered |

Kimbo seems to be a nice guy. He’s good for the sport but it’s to early to say if he’s a stayer… Would be cool if he could fight someone who wasn’t crap. As I said before, Kimbo by KO in less than 30 seconds. |

THE ONLY PROBLEM ABOUT KIMBO THAT I HAVE IS THE WAY HE’S BEING PROMOTED BY HIS ORGANIZATION. HE’S BEING PROMOTED AS THIS FORMER YOUTUBE, INTERNET STREET FIGHTER. EVEN HIS LAST PPV WAS TITLED STREET CERTIFIED. IF HE WANTS MMA FIGHTERS TO RESPECT HIM, THEN HE NEEDS TO TELL HIS ORGANIZATION TO PROMOTE HIM AS AN ATHLETE AND TO NOT GO FOR THE “FREAKSHOW” ASPECT AS DANA WHITE PUTS IT. |

Kimbo’s intent is to become a legitimate MMA competitor. Whether or not he will succeed depends entirely upon his willingness to take on legitimate competition. I don’t fault him for taking on cans for his first few fights, I think that is a smart move, unlike Brock Lesnar, who I think will sink his own career by getting in too deep, too fast (we will see in a few months). But when the time comes, he needs to move up the food chain, and show that he can hang with the best. As far as his management team goes (not to mention his choice in endorsements), I think he could be abit more professional. I am of the impression that he has less to do with that than people give him credit for. I think Kimbo made a good choice in choosing Bas Rutten to train him. I think he is making a bad choice in keeping is sublimedirectory.com buddies around for the ride. Those guys are NOT good for the sport. They are the types who still want to sell MMA as a bloodsport, instead of legitimate competition. People need to know that MMA isn’t the same thing as Felony Fights. It is crucial that MMA be seen as the truly competetive sport that it is to gain the true mainstream popularity that boxing had in its hayday. I hope that Kimbo can outgrow EliteXC (and their super-anemic HW division) and work a deal with UFC in a year or so. Then we will see if he is the real deal. |

I guess Kimbo works very hard at XC. And he’s a great athlete. I don’t mind the guy to be honest, but he’s gotten fight someone who isn’t nicknamed “Can” soon. |

i know his competition hasn’t been “grade A” or any “brand names” but i have to say i’m very impressed with his skills so far….. watching all his streets throughout college i figured he would be a one trick pony and just be a brawler, which would have been fine, but you can def see he has been working on his all-around game and taking his training seriously, which means he should have a more effective and successful MMA career….. |
