I had never thought of this before, but it’s a pretty interesting angle if you’re game planning against guys like Fedor and Minotoro Nogueira.

Anyways, check out this article on Top MMA Fighters THat Have Never Been Knocked Out.

I think having Big Nog’s chin takes “luck” or the “puncher’s chance” out of the picture. Fighters who look to face guys who have a brick for a head usually have to look to their other skills. Submissions are always in play (a good chin can’t counter a good armbar), while strong wrestling and control can create a victory.

The biggest thing these guys bring to the table is that if you want to beat them, you better be ready to go the distance. That means cardio, cardio, cardio. If you can’t fight every round, you can’t beat them. This is especially true with Nogueira. He is very efficient with his energy, and is always ready to sub his opponents when they make a mistake. He has only been beaten by opponents who can keep constant pressure on him without making mistakes (Dan Henderson, Fedor, and, and Josh Barnett) All of these guys have a great control game on the ground (wrestling/Sambo) and are known to be able to go the distance.

So basically, if you are facing a guy who has never been KO/TKO’d, just plan on having a long night, and having to fight for every round.

mark hunt ‘notably absent’ from the list.
i think it can be enormous advantage for some of these guys. clearly nog is able to utilize his guard so well because he’s less concerned about getting hit. mark hunt can afford to keep his hands low to lure in his opponent for the same reason.
obviously conditioning and cardio help, particularly in recovering but that’s not the same has having high bone density and a thick skull.
