JUST CURIOUS. DO YOU THINK THE UFC SHOULD HAVE ANY FEMALE FIGHTERS? IF NOT, DO YOU THINK THAT THERE SHOULD BE BIGGER OPTIONS FOR WOMEN TO FIGHT BESIDES ELITE XC?

I think that when the UFC starts to see a competitive advantage in having a female division, they will quickly drop the idea of “fighting’s not for women”.

Personally I think it’s fun to watch and I really like watching Shayna Baszler, and I think the upcoming Gina Carano against Kaitlin Young could steal the show on May 31st.

I just couldn’t see it in the UFC but it would work for the WEC.

i like top womens fighting. there are some pretty impressive girls fighting now. personally i don’t think it fits the ufc. i’d like to see an all womens league, for consistency and structure. i’m not sure how popular that would be though.

I agree that it is something that could work its way into the WEC. Then maybe it could bridge into the UFC. There are some pretty solid female fighters out there, but not nearly enough to build the kind of fighter pool that the UFC is looking for. I think its an eventuality tho, and promotions like EliteXC (and Japanese promotions) will serve as a base to grow the overall female fighter pool. We will just have to keep our eyes open. I think female fighting is good for the sport, as it showcases how integral technique is to MMA, not just brute strength. Not to mention I wouldn’t mind watching Gina Corano do anything. ;)

Personally i wouldn’t mind it, but Dana White says right here on this link somewhere down the road that there are not enough good women to create a division for.

YEAH, THERE ALSO ISN’T ENOUGH WOMEN WHO ARE GETTING AS MUCH EXPOSURE AS A GINA CORANO. I COULD SEE THE WEC HAVING A WOMENS DEVISION. IT WOULD REALLY WORK FOR THE WEC. HOPEFULLY PEOPLE WILL START PROMOTING THESE FEMALE FIGHTERS SO THAT WE CAN SEE THEM EITHER JOIN AN ALREADY EXISTING ORGANIZATION OR HAVE THE ABILITY TO CREATE THEIR OWN.

yeah i agree i wouldnt mind seing an all women organization and ive never seen a boring womens mma fight i think there great espeacially with gina carano headlining the womens front id what it. but i think a key thing would be the longevity of the fighters carrers not alot of women can go on to fight through there 30s but who knows hopefully someone can start to rival the ufc again so we can make the compition better throughout the mma world
