yeah i agree i wouldnt mind seing an all women organization and ive never seen a boring womens mma fight i think there great espeacially with gina carano headlining the womens front id what it. but i think a key thing would be the longevity of the fighters carrers not alot of women can go on to fight through there 30s but who knows hopefully someone can start to rival the ufc again so we can make the compition better throughout the mma world

I’M NEVER AGAINST MIR GETTING A TITLE SHOT, HE DESERVES IT. WHAT I MEAN BY KICKING MIR TO THE CURB IS THAT, IF THE UFC AND RANDY CAN COME TO SOME SORT OF AGREEMENT, THEN THAT FIGHT WILL HAPPEN FIRST. YES, MIR AND NOGUEIRA ARE GOING TO BE GREAT ON TUF 8, BUT YOU HAVE TO KNOW THAT THE UFC IS JUST TRYING TO BUY TIME, AND THAT I DON’T LIKE, BUT RANDY WILL NEVER COME BACK SO I GUESS IT DOESN’T MATTER. I THINK THEY SHOULD BE FIGHTING AT UFC 87, BUT I GUESS I CAN WAIT TILL DECEMBER!!!!!!! HELL NO, I CAN’T!!!!! THEY SHOULD HAVE ALL TUF COACHES TRAIN BEFORE THE SHOW STARTS, THAT WAY WHEN THE SHOW IS RAPPED, THEN THEY CAN FIGHT RIGHT AWAY. AND YOU’RE RIGHT, THE GOOD THING ABOUT ALL OF THIS IS THAT AMERICAN FANS WILL GET TO KNOW WHO NOGUEIRA IS. CAN’T ARGUE WITH THAT.

I also just saw a couple of reverse triangle chokes set from mount (Demian Maia did it against Ed herman, thats one example) and those a viscious. You have a solid blood choke, with your opponents face completely exposed and defenseless for huge strikes. Just looks like one of those situations. Ownage.

I think most nicknames are silly. I think they work occasionally, but when most fighters try to attach a nickname to get a draw, it is just stupid.

Example:

Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell- good. This is a simple nickname, and it is representative of Chuck. He has a cold and calculating style, he stalks his opponent in the cage, and can put most guys to sleep.

Chris “lights out” Lytle- also good, he is a good boxer with KO power and…it rhymes, so awesome.

Travis “The Serial Killer” Lutter- Dumb as hell. Nothing about Travis Lutter says “Serial Killer” He is an OK Jitz guy with No cardio. Stupid nickname, and its too long.

Tito’s name is stupid too, its so long I don’t even feel like typing it, much less saying it.

I like Forrest Griffin, because he is just Forrest Griffin, no stupid nickname.

Good for him. He is a young guy with alot to learn. I think he is interesting enough to fill in a few solid WEC fight cards. He will get a couple more paydays, and he will also get a chance to pan out. This is Zuffa’s new business model at work. The WEC gives fighters a chance to learn while also being showcased nationally.

If anyone’s cardio is suspect, its Irvins (not hating on Irvin, I think he is an exciting fighter). He is a typical one punch machine, and after the first half of the second round, he has all but lost his fangs. Now he isn’t as bad as Lutter, but the guy losses his explosiveness before the start of the third round. I think his TD defense is suspect as well. The one thing about Irvin tho, you have to ALWAYS give him a punchers chance.

I am not a huge Rashad Evans fan, but remember, styles make fights. And in the matchup between a brawler and a wrestler, the wrestler almost always wins. Irvin could rock Rashad with a huge punch or knee on the way in for a TD, but I am willing to risk against the punchers chance and say that Rashad will absorb some punishment (which he can do) and grind out a LnP decision. Rashad has shown the world repeatedly that he can implement a winning gameplan, conserve his energy, and work guys on the mat for ENTIRE FIGHTS. Could go either way. I just hope if Irvine losses, he doesn’t get cut, I think he is an awesome fighter having a rough time.

BTW, no fight is ever a sure thing…ever.

Mir is a former HW champ, they have no intentions of “kicking him to the curb”. The organization is more than happy that Mir has finally recovered fully from is horribly shattered femur several years ago. Of course the UFC wants Randy back, but the great thing about the UFC is that they actually can absorb a loss like Randy Couture. Does it hurt the division? Absolutely. Does it sink the division? No where close.

People who don’t like that Mir is getting the nod for a title shot need to remember two things: he never lost his belt (he wrecked a motorcycle) and once a champ, always a champ. Is Mir getting special treatment, yes. does he deserve it, I think so. The guy is getting a shot at HIS belt. That is a tradition in competetive sports (boxing especially). On top of that, he is the best contender that will be (1) 100% ready to fight, and (2) a big draw for PPV buys (face it, the guy has a marketable “comeback” story). Its a win/win.

I wouldn’t have been against the winner of Vera v. Werdum getting a shot, but how long to you want to shelve Nog (who needs the exposure to the average fans) to set that fight up? This will market Big Nog as a legitimate, reigning champ, and he DESERVES it. The only thing I wish they would change about TUF 8, is make it for HWs (The reason they aren’t is because the talent pool for unsigned HWs is too shallow to fit the shows model), but other than that, it will be great to watch two talented fighters like Mir (who already teaches Jitz) and Nog (ditto) do the coach routine. I think it will be a more professional, serious environment. It will be a nice foil for the current season.

Well I have to say that even though Werdum is a grappling savant in grappling competitions, he has not transitioned that very well to top level MMA. Lots of pure Jitz guys have problems doing what they do when they are getting GnP’d by guys with good sub defense and a mastery of the cage environment. If Werdum is able to sub Vera, it will signal that he will be a good MMA Jitz player, but Vera is not slouch on the ground, and has had a good transition all around in his game. I hope the fight is a good one, and not a repeat of Werdum v. AA, or Vera v. Sylvia, bleh.

THE UFC THINKS THEY’RE SLICK. THE ONLY REASON THAT THE UFC IS MAKING THEM COACHES FOR SEASON 8 IS TO BUY THEM MORE TIME TO GET RANDY BACK. IF THE UFC CAN GET RANDY BACK, THEN THEY’LL KICK MIR TO THE CURB, BUT IF THEY CAN’T GET RANDY BACK IN TIME, THEN THEY’LL STICK TO NOGUEIRA FIGHTING MIR. THAT’S MESSED UP! IMO, this one will go to Irvin easily. I think Rashad will tire quickly and he might get a tired ass takedown or two and throw weak punches and just try to win a boring UD. Not this time. Irvin will be faster and I just think he is going to win and I just don’t like Rashad any way. Irvin by KO!

i dont think that james irvin is that good of a fighter i dont think hes on the level that rashad is on he was training to fight the biggest name in mma rashad was and i think he porbably feels like crap that now he cant prove himself to the mma world as a champion type fighter if i were him that would piss me off royaly and thats why i think hes going to come out with an intensity that we havent seen from him yet and hopefully he will fight chuck or machida to see who will face rampafe i think that would be the best thing to see happen
